Tennis

OPT sponsored our 2nd First Volley Tennis Clinic at Circle C Tennis Club in Austin, Texas on October the 16th. We had 20 people attending—amputee players as well as wheelchair players.

This years clinic was especially exciting for us as legendary tennis player, Dennis Ralston attended. Mr. Ralston won Wimbledon and also French Open in the 70s. Dennis lost his limb in the spring and now is sharing his tennis expertise with his fellow amputees. It was a great day and honor to have him at our clinic.

We would also like to thank Fernando Velasco, General Manager and Director of Circle C Tennis Club, for hosting our event and joining in with his expertise and hospitality.

We would also like to thank all our participants for coming and we know you had a good time! We will see you next October for our 3rd annual.

 Extremity Games 5 Main Event*

The Extremity Games 5 for athletes living with limb loss or limb differences were held June 18th & 19th at the Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels. Competitions and instructional clinics included skateboarding, rock climbing, wake boarding and kayaking. Exhibitions included mixed martial arts.

OPT staff members were there providing support. We had several of our amputee clients there for instructional clinics. The competitive athletes were an inspiration to all of us and just magnificent to watch the strength and stamina that they have. It was a great experience for all of us at OPT.

OPT volunteered to have our Mobile Lab at the games. Our Technicians, Kevin and Sean, made minor adjustments to several of the athletes prostheses. The athletes and staff for the games were very appreciative for our service. Also, Sean took 100’s of pics and we will have many more to follow. Enjoy the sample of the pics we have uploaded.
