Livestrong Challenge 2010

Orthotic & Prosthetic Technologies, Inc., a.k.a. OPT is proud to announce four OPT sponsored amputee cyclists completed the Livestrong Challenge on October 24th 2010. Carlos Garcia (90 miles), Greg Lakomski (90 miles), Jamie Schanbaum (10 miles), Todd Rayer (40 miles) and 3 OPT prosthetists/orthotists, Aaron Foreman, PT, CPO, Kevin Kimbell CPO, and David Polanco CP all completed the ride. OPT raised over $2,000 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation in the Livestrong Challenge in Austin, Texas. Aaron said the ride went great and the amputees trained hard for this event and easily completed the hilly course west of Austin. OPT would like to congratulate all of the amputees who successfully completed the ride.


The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) unites people through programs and experiences to empower cancer survivors to live life on their own terms and to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. The LAF focuses on cancer prevention, access to screening and care, research and quality of life for cancer survivors. Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the LAF's mission is to inspire and empower people affected by cancer.

Livestrong Challenge Austin rallied more than 2,800 runners, 3,100 cyclist and 800 volunteers on Oct. 22-24, raising more than $3.1 million to fight cancer. On Sunday there was a 10- to 90-mile ride from Austin through the Texas Hill Country. "The show of support here in Austin never ceases to amaze me," Lance Armstrong said.
