Frieda is an experienced amputee with a heart for the needs of new amputees. In 1977, Frieda lost her left leg below the knee when she was hit by a drunk driver while riding her motorcycle. After her accident, Frieda returned to her career as a professional musician and continued to play professionally until 1998.
In 2001, Frieda found herself drawn to the prosthetics field. With assistance from DARS, Frieda was able to start an apprenticeship as a prosthetics technician. Frieda worked to fabricate prostheses for five years while also becoming certified as an Amputee Peer Visitor. In 2002, Frieda founded the Round Rock Amputee Support Group, which she continues to facilitate to this day.
In 2007, Frieda joined the OPT team where She is works tirelessly as a patient advocate and director of the Public Relations team.
