April Support Group Newsletter 2010 including fishing.pdf

Frieda Borth has been the facilitator of the Round Rock Amputee Support Group since September 2003. Ms. Borth oversees the activities and meetings monthly, with feedback and input from the group members.

The support group has an activity planned each month and also has a meeting on the
4th Thursday of every month held at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center at 7:00 p.m. in classroom 3 behind the gift shop. In the previous years, the support group has
participated in many different activities and outings such as fishing with bass fishermen in their boats, bowling, pool, picnics, Round Rock Express Baseball games, golf clinics, parties, trip to LBJ Library, and the group rode the Hill Country Flyer to Bertram, TX. Just to name a few of their speakers: Ossur Rep, OttoBock Rep, College Park Rep, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Police Cadets, Physical Therapists, and Physicians. We schedule our speakers and topics to bring the newest in Technology and answer questions any of the members may have.

Building relationships and friendships is what our group is about. The RR Amputee Support Group is available to all amputees as well as friends and family members. The Support Group has 8 ACA certified amputee peer visitors certified through the Amputee Coalition of America. The RR Amputee Support Group is very proud of their peer visiting program and has the utmost confidence that they can continue to serve amputees in the most positive and supportive ways possible.
